Are you interested in getting into real estate investing but don’t know where to start or which real estate strategy to implement?  This is a common question that many people just starting out face.  There is no wrong or right answer to the question but taking action is the most important step.

Many times I run into real estate seminar “junkies”.  These are people that have attended every real estate seminar known to man from Rich Dad Poor Dad, to Armando Montelongo, to Fortune Builders, to Carlton Sheets, to various other real estate educational programs.  Many of these people pay tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to attend these seminars and yet never do one single real estate transaction.  They attend class, after class, after class.  They suffer from the “I need to know every single detail” syndrome.  What they don’t realize is that even the most experienced real estate investor does not know everything, even the “gurus”.

So what do successful real estate investors have in common?  Action!  The successful real estate investor is the one that recognizes opportunity and takes action before anyone else does.  They buy low and sell high.  They take one real estate strategy and master it.  Once they master a strategy, they begin to master another strategy.

They don’t know all the details but surround themselves with people who do and they have a power team that can answer many of the questions that they do not know or care to know.  Henry Ford was taken to trial by a Chicago newspaper because they said he was an “ignorant pacifist”.  The newspapers attorneys asked him many questions that Henry Ford did not know the answer to but once Henry Ford had enough questioning he replied:

“If I really want to answer that foolish question you’ve just asked, or any of the other questions you’ve been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electronic push buttons on my desk, and by posting the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer any question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts.  Now, will you kindly tell me, why should I clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?”

Henry Ford’s reply made everyone in the courtroom realize that he didn’t need know all the answers to be the smartest man in the room.  He knew that leveraging other people’s expertise and knowledge was the smartest thing that anyone could ever do.  Henry Ford’s formal education never even reach the 6th grade but yet he is known as one of the most brilliant innovators of the 20th century.

If you do not know an answer to a question regarding real estate or business, find someone who can.  Leverage the expertise of others and take action!  Partner and work with local active real estate investors in your market, many times you can “learn while you earn”.  Implement the education you do have and understand that you can never know every single detail.  Don’t let fear of the unknown get in the way of achieving your dreams.
