When it comes to having the right look to your property, putting high end home features of the rich can be done for your house on a budget. The real trick is not only improve the appearance of your home, but increase the overall value of your residence as well.

The Smart House

The Internet of Things is now providing for what are known as “smart homes” that integrate technology into everything electrical such as the air conditioning, heating, lighting, security and so forth. A smart home can be a real energy saver as well when you combine it with the right technology and insulation that makes your home more energy efficient. A fairly inexpensive upgrade you can accomplish on any home is a smart thermostat that you can control from an app on your phone.

Opening Up the Kitchen

It was not long ago that kitchens were virtually abandoned as more people continued to eat out. Today, they are the center of a new health craze as healthy eating is definitely in. One of the high end home features that rich people enjoy is having a more spacious kitchen that resembles those used by chefs. So, if you can find ways to expand out your kitchen by removing unnecessary items and furnishings, then you can really start to open up the space. Sometimes you can knock down a wall to expand your kitchen into another room, it is an investment well spent since you get one of the highest returns on your value when you spend money in the kitchen.

The Home Workout Center

While home gyms have been around for a long time, they have not been all that popular a feature in middle class homes. However, it is pretty easy to set up your own home gym without paying through the nose. Free weights combined with open aerobics space and perhaps a treadmill if you want to spend the extra money makes for a great home workout. A home gym is fairly easy to set up in the basement and you will be amazed at the deals you can find on used workout equipment on craigslist. Many times people will give away workout equipment to free up room in their house.

The Internet

You can find really amazing deals for lighting and plumbing fixtures that look like a million bucks on websites like Ebay and Amazon. You can purchase body jet shower systems and chandeliers for a third of the price that you find at most retailers.

Hot & Cold

The traditional sauna or spa is still one of the most popular home features of the rich and it does not take up too much space in the basement if you want to include one. Saunas can be very relaxing as a good sweat can really clear the toxins from the body. Conversely, cryotherapy with a cryosauna is another highly popular feature that many rich people use to kick off their day. You can choose an ice cold pool plunge if you want to mind your budget. Keep in mind that a sauna, cryosauna, or pool do not up your resale value though!

The Guest House

Actually, normal middle and working class homes will sometimes have guest houses in the back. If you have the space, you can build a small guest house which is perfect for those who want to spend the night. Whether your guest house is just big enough for a bed and shower or large enough to be considered a home, you can choose the right size for your needs. To save money, you can build the guest quarters above a garage.
